👋 What is myPal?

myPal is a personal and family organizer — one place for the everyday things a household needs to track together (shopping, shared tasks) alongside things you'd rather keep to yourself (your own to-dos, leave, expenses, notes, and passwords). It also throws in a few handy standalone tools — weather, a calculator, and an AI assistant — that anyone can use without even logging in.

🏠 Accounts & Households

Everyone shares one account system, but data is grouped into households — think of it as a family group. When you register, you either create a new household or join an existing one using an invite code from a family member (found in your Account view). Shopping List and ToDo are shared with everyone in your household; User ToDo, Leave, Expenses, Notes and Password Manager are private to you alone, even within a shared household.

🛒 Shopping List

Shared with your whole household — anyone in it sees the same list and changes sync automatically. Requires login. Tracks cost history per shop too, also shared household-wide.

✅ ToDo

Also shared within your household — good for family task lists. Each list can optionally have a due date.

🔒 User ToDo

Your own private task lists — not visible to anyone else in your household, even though it uses the same login.

📅 Leave & Overtime

Private to you. Tracks your annual leave days against public holidays (fetched live for your country). The Overtime tab calculates pay owed based on Greek labor law rates — set your gross monthly salary and log your hours; night, Sunday, and 150-hour-threshold rates are applied automatically.

💵 Expenses

Private to you. Log and categorize your own spending.

📄 Notes

Private to you. Rich-text notes with file attachments, under your personal storage quota.

📅 My Calendar

Private to you — not shared with the rest of your household. Shows national holidays for your country, plus optional layers you can turn on under "Add Calendars": F1 race weekends, national-team & top-league football and basketball fixtures, and Greek name days. Add your own private events on any date — give one a time and you can set a "Remind me" lead time (or "at the time", or "don't remind me") to get a push notification before it starts.

🔐 Password Manager

Private to you. Passwords are encrypted at rest on the server, never stored as plain text. You can export everything to a genuinely password-protected Excel file as a backup — set that file's password yourself when exporting.

☁️ Weather

Public — no login needed. Uses your device location (with permission) or a location you search for. Shows current conditions, hourly and 7-day forecasts, plus a live wind map.

🧮 Calculator

Public — no login needed. A full scientific calculator: trig functions, logs, memory, degree/radian modes.

✨ Ask Gemini

Public — no login needed. A general AI assistant chat, powered by Google's Gemini.

👤 Staying Logged In

Once you log in, myPal remembers you on that device — no need to log in again until you explicitly log out. Regular Logout forgets you but keeps this device linked to your household, so a family member logging in next will default to joining it. "Forget this device" clears both, for a fully clean slate.

🔔 Notifications

myPal has two separate notification systems. Leave/ToDo reminders (Settings → Notifications) give a heads-up the day before a Leave starts or a ToDo is due, but only while the app is open on your device. My Calendar reminders (🔔 Notify me before events, under Add Calendars) are real push notifications — they arrive even when myPal isn't open, for your own events (each with its own time and "Remind me" lead), plus F1, football, basketball and name days if you've also turned those on. Tap ⏰ Snooze on one to be reminded again later, or 🛑 Stop notifications to end it. On iPhone, myPal needs to be added to your home screen first for any notifications to work at all (a Safari-only restriction).
